The Inventory is a mechanic in Resident Evil Village.
Input[]
The following are the default inputs in Resident Evil Village:
| PlayStation 4 , PlayStation 5 | XBOX ONE | PC | |
| Open/close menu | X | Y | Tab |
| Select item | F | ||
| Move item | Square | LMB + Drag | |
| Switch menu | Q/E |
Gameplay[]
The inventory acts similarly to how it does in past Resident Evil titles, with very limited amounts of space that a player can contain items in.
Like Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the inventory menu of Village utilizes real-time organization but differs from its prequel as opening the inventory does pause game-play itself. The design takes inspiration from the Attache Case from Resident Evil 4, and also features a health gauge. Unlike previous games, however, the health gauge is a simple rectangular bar that changes color when Ethan/Chris is injured, rather than featuring a pulse effect.
The Item menu is where the player's items are stored. The player can store many types of items, key items, weapons, consumables, healing items, ammunition and lockpicks, but due to the limited space, management is a must. Inventory item consists of a grid on which items snap into place; the items can be moved and rotated to fit the player's liking. The case is only for weapons, weapon attachments, ammo, and health items with key Items, files, and treasures do not go into the main inventory window and don't take up space in inventory.
The case is initially quite small with the space only has 45 slots at the beginning of the game but as the player's journey progresses, the player will have the option to buy for larger attaché cases from The Duke
Item Stacks[]
| Items | Stacks |
|---|---|
| Handgun Ammo | 30 |
| Shotgun Ammo | 15 |
| Sniper Rifle Ammo | 15 |
| Rifle Ammo | 30 |
| Magnum Ammo | 10 |
| Rocket Pistol Ammo | |
| Pipe Bomb | 5 |
| Mines | 5 |
| Explosive Rounds | 5 |
| Flashbangs | 5 |
| Lockpicks | 5 |
Combine[]
The Combine menu produces the same results as using the combine option from the Item. During the main game, once the player finds items that can be combined, the game will prompt them to try it.
The player can find a separate inventory for combining items with Gunpowder, Rusted Scraps, Chem Fluid, Herb, Metal Scrap to create various types of ammunition, explosives and healing items.
