The Ithaca M37 (SG) is a weapon item in Resident Evil 5 and, as per naming convention in the game, is evidently a shotgun. More specifically, it is a pistol-grip, pump-action shotgun. It is based on the real-life Ithaca M37 shotgun, and it is the first shotgun to be obtained in-game.
Gameplay[]

The Ithaca can be acquired in Chapter 1-2 in a building which requires the Old building key to be opened. Sheva can find this using the Assist Jump on the second broken ladder. The building is located after an assist door, and it can be entered before or after the cutscene with Allyson. If missed, the key is discarded, and it can be purchased in Chapter 1-2 and onwards.
The Ithaca M37 starts with a base firepower of 200, a reload speed of 3.00 seconds, a capacity of 6, and a critical ratio of 0. Fully upgraded, it has a firepower of 400, a reload speed of 2.40 seconds, a capacity of 25, and a critical ratio of 1. This shotgun has a critical ratio value as opposed to an attack range value.
Compared to other shotguns, the Ithaca has a medium firepower, the largest capacity and a high critical rate. If the Jail Breaker is upgraded to its attack range, then the Ithaca will be considered the weakest shotgun in the game. But it also costs the least to fully upgrade.
Fully upgrading the Ithaca opens the option to buy infinite ammo for it for 8,000 Exchange Points in the Bonus Features menu. Fully upgrading this weapon will also unlock the Hydra to be purchased from the store.
The Ithaca also appears in the Mercenaries minigame. It is part of Chris in his BSAA costume load out. It is also in the Mercenaries Reunion as part of Sheva's loadout in her Fairytale outfit.
Upgrade chart[]
The Ithaca takes a total of ₦72,000 to buy and full upgrade or just ₦70,000 fully upgrade if the player takes the one found in-game.
