Jake Muller (ジェイク・ミューラー Jeiku Myūrā?) was a mercenary raised in Eastern Europe. The son of bioterrorist Albert Wesker, he was dragged into a conspiracy to launch major terrorist attacks with the C-Virus.

Biography

Jake Muller, also known as Jake Wesker, is the biological son of late Umbrella eugenicist, virologist and bioterrorist Albert Wesker.

According to the report on Jake sent to Derek C. Simmons, Jake's mother emigrated to the United States alone in her early twenties. Although the details aren't clear, it seems to be the opportunity of when she met Wesker, had a relationship with him and then got pregnant with his child. After presumably breaking up with Wesker, she soon returned home to Edonia and gave birth to Jake, without telling Wesker of the fact.

From an early age, he had to support his chronically ill mother. She could have made a full recovery if the family could have afforded it, but Jake and Ms. Muller had barely enough money to cover their daily needs. She tried her best to provide for the family, and did all she could to protect Jake. He loved his mother, but couldn't understand why she was still enamored with his father, the man who had abandoned them.

Without Albert, Jake soon found work as a mercenary in order to support his mother,[2] selling his services to the insurgents fighting the government. He had no love for politics; he just wanted to afford better medical care for his mother. Unfortunately, Ms. Muller passed away not long after he became a soldier of fortune.

Jake felt like he was alone in the world, and his heart was now hardened. His only concern was for money, even though he no longer had a pressing need for it.

His mother left a note for him next to her bed before she died.

"I love you, Jake. I'm so sorry to have to leave you like this. Please forgive me. And please, don't hate your father. I'm sure he loves you and is thinking about you, and I know you two will find each other someday. Stay strong."

Edonia

"Yeah yeah yeah, good for you, but... now's not really the time. You coming?"
— Jake preparing to leave after meeting Sherry

December 24, 2012, in the Eastern European republic of Edonia, Jake was working with the Edonian Liberation Army during the civil war in the nation, hired to help take care of the intruding BSAA. A woman in a blue dress visits the soldiers and provides them with a supply of syringes and injectors that are full of the C-Virus, though telling them it was a form of energy booster to increase and improve their performance.[3] Jake is seen by himself with his injector and an apple, hesitating a moment before he injected himself. He felt no effect, telling one of his mutated comrades as he burst through the door suspiciously.

Jake about to take a dose of the C-Virus moments before meeting Sherry Birkin

As he spoke to the newly turned J'avo, it is apparent Jake knew something is wrong as he is unsurprised when the J'avo attacked him with a knife. A battle ensues between the two in which Jake showed a heightened reaction ability as well as increased strength. Just as he defeated the J'avo, a young woman by the name of Sherry Birkin - daughter of William Birkin, former research partner of Jake's father - asked him if he had already injected himself. Jake told her of the woman passing them out as she makes mention of him having antibodies. Perplexed at first, she told Jake he is the key to saving the world but the moment was interrupted when they are attacked by more J'avo. Jake escaped through a garbage chute and Sherry followed after him. As Sherry tried to finally introduce herself, Jake cut her off and told her that it's not the time. Making his getaway, Jake asked Sherry if she's coming with him.

Jake and Sherry on the run from the Ustanak

Sherry was tasked to protect Jake and keep him out of harm's way, in order to bring him back to America with her so that they could use his blood, which possesses anti-bodies which make him immune to the effects of the C-Virus. After Sherry explained the situation to Jake, he walks over to a nearby window to think over the situation. After a short time, Jake agreed to give his blood, but in exchange he demanded that the United States government had to pay him $50 million (in cash), in return for one pint. As they made their way through the village turned war zone and the countless number of J'avo, Jake and Sherry are attacked and chased down by a deadly B.O.W. known as the Ustanak. The Ustanak chased them through an abandoned warehouse where they have to fight the creature off. Jake and Sherry defeated the Ustanak, only for it to stumble backwards into a nearby supporting beam, causing the floor to fall from beneath them. The two survived the fall and continue forward until they reached the town square. There, the pair crossed paths with Chris Redfield, Piers Nivans, and other BSAA operatives - the very same people Jake was supposed to fight. They joined forces, albeit briefly, to fend off two massive Ogroman.[4] When it was time to part ways with the operatives, Chris inquires if he and Jake had met before, perhaps noticing a resemblance to Wesker. Jake left Chris with only a sarcastic reply before he and Sherry departed.

During the flight, Sherry called her supervisor to discuss the pairs where abouts and about Jakes terms of agreement. After the call, Sherry confirms to Jake that his terms have been accepted and that he would receive his $50 million upon his arrival in the United States. Jake then began to talk to Sherry about Chris, but before he could, the helicopter was attacked by the Ustanak, who had survived their previous encounter. After fighting off the Ustanak for a second time, the pair jumped from the helicopter they were in and parachuted down before it exploded, but one of the propellers from the helicopter tears their parachute, causing them to plummet to the ground.

Jake came round lying in the snow, surrounded by bits of the helicopter wreckage with Sherry lying on top of him. Jake removed his hand from Sherry's back to find it covered in her blood. Jake, panicked by the sight, moved from under Sherry to find a large piece of metal from the helicopter had impaled her through the back. Whilst he wondered what to do, Sherry asks him to remove it. Although he initially refuses, he eventually agreed and pulled the piece of scrap metal out. However, much to Jake's amazement, Sherry does not bleed to death, but instead began to heal herself until the wound had completely disappeared. After a brief conversation about Sherry's special ability, Sherry informed Jake that all the data chips they needed to make a vaccine are missing. Jake agreed to help retrieve them, knowing that without them he would not get his money. After retrieving them, Jake and Sherry took shelter in a nearby cabin. Jake learns that Sherry's healing abilities are due to the after effects of her being infected with the G-Virus 14 years earlier. He also learns that Sherry's father, William Birkin, was killed due to his research, and that by the time he was killed by Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, he had mutated so much that he was no longer recognisable as a human being. Jake noted that Claire is Chris's sister. Jake then heard a noise outside, and tackled Sherry to the ground just as a group of J'avo outside opened fire on them. After a brief fight in the cabin, the J'avo triggered an explosive charge to blow open the wall, which resulted in the start of an avalanche. Jake and Sherry grabbed two nearby snowmobiles the J'avo had left and raced down the mountain to escape the oncoming avalanche.

The two of them eventually got trapped in an underground cavern, and began to look for a way out. However, they discovered that the Ustanak has survived the helicopter crash as well, and was patrolling the underground caverns searching for them. After sneaking around the cavern and retrieving the key card for a nearby door, Jake alerted the Ustanak whilst sliding the card through the electronic lock. Whilst being pursued through the resulting rooms, Jake and Sherry found a giant mining drill, and used it to defeat the Ustanak for a third time by drilling him into a wall. The two found an exit which led them to the side of a hill, which Sherry informed Jake was nearby the rendezvous point. Just as they were about to set off towards the rendezvous, they were once again attacked by a group of J'avo. As Jake and Sherry fought them off, the Ustanak reappeared from the cavern exit and sent Sherry spinning through the air, knocking her unconscious, before knocking Jake to the floor. The Ustanak pinned Jake to the ground using his foot, and as Jake looked up, he saw Carla Radames, the woman who infected the rest of his comrades, walking towards him. She reveals to Jake that he is the son of Albert Wesker and tells him how he had tried, and failed, to destroy the world. Carla then gave the order to the Ustanak to stomp on Jake, knocking him unconscious. Both he and Sherry were then kidnapped and taken to a facility in China to be experimented on.

"If he is half the man you say he is, he'll be fine. OK?"
— Jake to Sherry, about Leon

After six months of being experimented on, Jake was being escorted by several J'avo to an unknown location, a few moments later Jake paused, much to the annoyance of one J'avo. While one of the J'avo was unlocking the door to continue the escort, Jake attacked two J'avo with another's firearm before snapping the J'avo's neck, he then uncuffed himself and proceeded to finish off the others, after finishing off the stragglers he then deactivated the power in order to continue his escape.

While making his escape Jake assisted Sherry several times via security turrets, and soon found his way into a locker room mere moments after Sherry. There the duo began to get changed from their medical apparel into clothing from the lockers and proceeded to arm themselves, during this time Jake asked Sherry if she's familiar with Albert Wesker and he discovered that she was, he mentioned that Wesker was spoken about numerous times and expressed his disgust that his father was a "freaking nutjob who almost destroyed the world". Jake mentioned that he believes he acts like he does due to his father's actions, even asking Sherry if she doesn't think crazy runs in his family and he mentioned his actions make some sense to him now. Sherry, disgusted with his words, scolds him, saying he can blame his father all he wants, but he has to take responsibility for his own actions.

Upon exiting the locker room, the two of them found themselves in a rather lavish living quarters for the facility. They also figured out that they were in China. Wanting to contact her superiors and inform them of their situation, Sherry and Jake searched for a terminal where they could establish a line. Upon finding a computer with data of Jake's biology and a potential cure, Sherry copied the data to a card and took it with her. They also found Sherry's phone, and she contacted Simmons, finding out that he was already in China.

Escaping the facility, they took a motorcycle into the city, with an enemy helicopter in hot pursuit. With the help of Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans, who were also in China, they took down the helicopter and went on to meet up with Simmons at the rendezvous point. While running through the backstreets and alleyways, they came upon a large group of J'avo and fought their way to a clearing where the Ubistvo was knocked down from a train by Ada Wong and landed in front of them. The creature attacked them with its razor sharp arm and attempted to kill them, but the duo quickly gunned it down. Believing it to be dispatched dead, they proceeded onwards.

Leonjakecrossover

Jake with Leon, seeing the Ustanak followed them to China

On their way, Sherry and Jake witnessed a plane crash, Sherry apparently noted that it was American. Upon investigating, they found Leon S. Kennedy along with Helena Harper. After a brief reunion, Sherry told Leon how she was on protective detail and inquired as to why he was in China. Leon revealed to her that her boss, Derek C. Simmons, was the one responsible for the global outbreaks. Taken aback, Sherry did not believe it at first, insisting it couldn't be possible as she reported to him and trusted him. Tensions rose as Leon tried to pressure Sherry into revealing Simmons' location, but Jake stepped in violently. Pulling Jake away, Sherry told him that Leon was one responsible for helping her survive during the Raccoon City incident, which convinced Jake, albeit hesitantly, to trust him.

Sherry's reunion with Leon was cut short as the Ustanak, standing upon the wreckage of the crashed plane, suddenly attacked. The four of them fought against the violent B.O.W., and foiled its attempts to kidnap Jake. After doing what they could to keep Ustanak at bay, the monster finally retreated, but not before a large electrical tower began to crash down. The tower separated the two parties, and Sherry tried desperately to tell Leon and Helena where the rendezvous point was before a massive explosion. With no other choice but to hope that Leon heard her, Sherry and Jake went to continue their journey to the rendezvous.

Using a river raft to travel across water, the two dangerously sailed into an ambush, where the Ubistvo that they had seemingly defeated earlier returned for some revenge. Just when they began to think they were doomed, a gunshot sounded out and hit the Ubistvo. Surprised and unsure if the bullet had been from a friend or foe, Sherry and Jake evaded the Ubistvo as best as they could while the mysterious sniper helped them. After shocking the creature and knocking it into the water, Sherry and Jake once again attempted to flee using another raft. However, the Ubistvo barged on to their raft and almost knocked Sherry into a propeller from nearby debris when the mysterious sniper saved them one last time.

Jake promises Sherry that he'll run if the situation goes south

Sherry warns Jake about Simmons' intentions. Finally making it to the rendezvous point, Sherry hesitated outside the door, admitting to Jake that if things went bad, she wanted him to escape, no matter what. (Jake was the world's only chance of creating a vaccine for the C-Virus, due to the antibody he inherited from Wesker.) Jake agreed, though not easily, and the two entered the door, finding themselves in the presence of not only Simmons, but also Leon and Helena.

Simmons ordered Sherry to take Leon and Helena into custody, but Sherry refused, instead asking if what Leon had said was true and if Simmons really was responsible for the bioterrorist attacks. Angered by her suspicions, Simmons revealed that the president had been killed and that Leon was responsible. Helena and Leon quickly rebutted, and a fire fight soon ensued. Sherry, confused and unsure of what to believe was also fired on by Simmons' men, and Jake quickly knocked her into cover.

Leon told Sherry that they would provide her and Jake cover to a nearby exit. Sherry agreed, and they executed the plan, Sherry and Jake making a run for the doorway. Once there, a J'avo caught them off guard and Sherry pleaded for Jake to run. With a smug look on his face, he refused, and Sherry replied, saying he'd promised. Revealing that he'd lied, the two tried to fight off the growing masses of J'avo until they were finally overpowered, disarmed, and taken to an underwater base.

"There's more important things at stake than you and me right now."
— Jake to Chris

When Sherry and Jake woke up, they found themselves bound up. Sherry apologized to Jake for trusting Simmons and not seeing through his lies. Suddenly, they were somehow set free and Sherry rushed through the air vent to get their weapons and get Jake out of the cell. Fighting their way past a horde of Rasklapanje, they activated an elevator, but barely escaped alive when one of the creatures caused the facility to overload and spiral out of control.

As they made their escape, they encountered Chris and Piers, who were the ones that freed Sherry and Jake. When Chris revealed that he killed Albert Wesker, Sherry and Piers tried to stop Jake from killing his father's murderer. Jake didn't kill Chris, knowing that there were more important things at stake, but their conversation was interrupted when HAOS began to awaken, so they take the lifts up to the top. Once they reach the top, they witness Haos emerging from its cocoon. Dodging its attack, Sherry and Jake make their escape while Chris and Piers stayed behind to defeat it. Sherry wanted to go back and help, but Jake told her that it was their choice to stay. After being reminded that they had to save the world, Sherry hurried with Jake to the exit.

Entering a room filled with hot lava, Sherry and Jake are confronted by Ustanak once again. In the middle of the fight, Jake and Sherry are separated by Ustanak and Jake is trapped with it on an isolated gantry section. Without a weapon, Jake decides to face the creature with his hand-to-hand combat. After a series of well timed attacks on Ustanak, Jake lands the finishing blow on the monster and sends it falling into the lava. As the facility began to crumble, Sherry and Jake made their way to the exit. They found a lift that traveled at a fast speed, but they were met with Ustanak and a gush of lava. Trying to fight him off, Sherry spotted a gun and quickly grabbed it, pointing it at the monster. But she had a hard time keeping her hand steady, so Jake helped her in firing and killing Ustanak once and for all. As they held on for their lives on the lift, Jake thanked Sherry for saving his life.

New Purpose

"Fair's fair, kid."
— Jake to the boy he helped

After the life-altering experience Jake had went through, he decided to make a change in his life. When he and Sherry parted ways, he sent her a message through her phone to inform her that he had lowered his asking price - from 50 million dollars to 50 dollars. Looking out his window, the boy watched as numerous Napad dropped from the rooftops around the small building he was in. Stepping back from the window, the boy bumps into a hooded Jake Muller who asked the boy if he had what was asked for. Still surprised, the boy hesitated momentarily before taking out an apple and handing it to Jake. As Jake left through the front door, the boy asked him if he would keep his promise. Jake whipped off the cloak and hood as the Napad began to charge him. Drawing his pistol, Jake took a bite of the apple and told the boy that, "Fair's fair," then proceeded to open fire on the attacking B.O.W.s. This shows while Jake is more interested in helping people, he still maintains a mercenary image.

Skills and Abilities

Intelligence

Due to his lineage of Wesker, Jake seems to be very intelligent and learn things very quick, evident in the game include:

  • Language: Jake seems to have an ability to learn foreign languages by only listening. Jake was able to learn Cantonese from his captors just two months into his captivity. By six months, the time he and Sherry escaped, he was able to read and speak it fluently.
  • Music: He has a talent in playing the piano, able to play a very complicated music piece.
  • Vehicle driving: It is possible that he has some experience in handling small motorized vehicles such as motorcycles/dirt-bikes and snowmobiles, as he drives both in very high-tension and quick-paced situations.

Combat

"I don't need a gun to kill assholes like you!"
— Jake

Jake grew up as a mercenary and was taught armed and unarmed combat. Jake evidently is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, being able to string together powerful attacks quickly even among multiple targets. Strangely a number of Jake's favored attacks such as upward palm thrust and downward piercing kick are identical to those used previously by his father. His hand-to-hand combat attacks are very powerful, seeming to decimate enemies quickly and even staggering the Ustanak - something only done so far by high-caliber weapons like the Elephant Killer or large explosions whereas normal gunfire does nothing to stop it or slow it down.

His swiftness in hand-to-hand fighting has shown to be comparable than Chris' and Leon's, as he quickly defeats J'avo with perfectly-fitted combos in RE6. While Chris and Leon use more conservative and simpler fighting style, Jake often incorporates flashy jump kicks and classic wrestling throws without getting worn out due to his increased stamina.
