John is the name of a character planned for Resident Evil 2, but was ultimately removed when the game's development was restarted. His character skin was recycled for the new character, Robert Kendo. It is known he was to appear in Elza Walker's scenario and was to kill the character Roy, who is infected with the t-Virus.
