Josh Stone was originally intended to die at the Oil Refinery. In his place, Sheva Alomar was to operate the boat during the race to Ricardo Irving. Due to the development of Resident Evil 5's co-op gameplay, the developers decided to make Josh the driver of the boat so that both Chris and Sheva could be playable at that point in the game.
