Knife is a weapon in Resident Evil Village.
Location[]
Item location
The Knife is found inside the room Grigori Stan is first met, at the start of the game.
Gameplay[]
The Knife is in the player's inventory by default. It can be used to make swipes in front of the player character, and it can be aimed with for a more precise stab motion. There is a delay after the swipes which can be cancelled by using the Guard. Players can use it to destroy breakable objects or Flour Bags without using ammo. It takes up two inventory spaces and cannot be sold at The Duke.
If the player presses the interact button at a breakable object, the character will automatically switch to the knife and perform a swipe. This mechanic is also present in The Mercenaries when interacting with an orb. The orb will also be broken regardless if the player made a full quick turn, even if the knife apparently missed it completely.
There is a Challenge tied to beating the story using only close combat weapons, which the Knife is included.
In The Mercenaries, this Knife is the only melee weapon the player has access to. There are three abilities that will enhance the Knife:
- Blade Master - Knives do five times more damage.
- Masamune - Knife attacks are 10 times stronger, but damage from other weapons greatly decreases.
- Assassination Dash - Movement speed increases when knife is equipped.
If players stack Blade Master with Masamune, they will essentially be able to one hit kill most enemies regardless of stage, and deal heavy damage to higher tier enemies. The Masamune ability is only unlocked after obtaining an S at "The Mad Village" stage, while the other two are available by default.
By default, in The Mercenaries mode the knife's power is 50. This cannot be changed in Story Mode, but its damage can be altered via abilities in The Mercenaries.
At the final battle with Miranda, Ethan will use this Knife automatically during a sequence.
