Lance Reddick (31 December 1962 - 17 March 2023) was an American actor who played the part of Albert Wesker in the Constantin Film TV series, Resident Evil.
Reddick died on March 17, 2023, being found dead at his home in Los Angeles. No cause of death was immediately given.[1] Although the cause of death was later revealed to be cardiovascular disease.[2]
Career[]
Reddick was largely unfamiliar with the Resident Evil games when negotiating for the television series, having known it more as a film franchise. At the time of casting the Albert Wesker character was imagined as a blonde haired white man, though casting was colour-blind as is common in television due to concerns the pool of talented actors would be artificially limited. Due to the casting department's belief Reddick would inevitably land the part, he was allowed to read the entire scripts of seven of the eight episodes before making his mind up. The character was not noticeably changed for his casting.[3]
