Len was a Raccoon City Fire Department (RFD) firefighter who assisted the Raccoon Police Department (RPD) with the evacuation of civilians from the Apple Inn and its surrounding area. As he and another RFD firefighter, Charlie, scoured the basement for survivors, the poorly maintained boiler exploded, killing them both.[1]

A group of survivors fleeing from the zombies in the streets discovered their corpses, as Danny, another RFD firefighter, attempted to re-establish contact with the pair via his tactical radio.
