The Main Street (大通り ōdōri) is a location featured in both outbreak games, appearing specifically in the scenarios "Outbreak" and "End of the Road", respectively.[1][2]
History[]
Main Street was a four-lane avenue and one of Raccoon City’s most important thoroughfares, serving as a central hub for traffic, commerce, and public gatherings. The avenue was lined with a variety of local businesses, restaurants, and commercial buildings, the most notable being the Raccoon Mall, which stood as a major shopping destination for city residents.
On September 23rd, 1998 the RPD launched "The cleanup operation" which involved placing explosive charges at key points along the street. The operation was successful in completely obliterating the infected crowd, but came at the cost of at least two officers, Eric and Elliott, who were killed during the process.[3]
Days later, a Chinook helicopter piloted by 2nd U.S.S. Squad Captain Rodriguez landed on Main Street. Rodriguez was acquainted with an Umbrella researcher named Linda Baldwin, and the two formed an alliance with the shared goal of exposing Umbrella Corporation’s crimes. Together, they stole the NYX B.O.W. from an UBCS Charlie Platoon led by Tommy Nielsen, who had been tasked with securing the creature. With NYX in their possession, Rodriguez and Baldwin planned to reveal Umbrella’s unethical experiments and bio-organic weapon development to the world.[4]

Upon reaching Main Street, the player must combine the Detonator Main Unit and Detonator Handle, located nearby, to create the Detonator. The item can then be used near the fuse box. Zombies freely roam the area, attacking the survivors constantly. If you speak with the only surviving police officer, Harry, near the end of the road, he will offer you his pistol to aid you in completing this task.
