Makoba Village (マコバビレッジ, Makoba birejji) was a small settlement located in Arklay County, high up in the Arklay Mountains, some 40 km northwest of Raccoon City. Makoba was founded by a Satanic cult in the early 20th century, and remained tightly isolated with rules forbidding those to leave the village. By 1998 the village became largely dilapidated, and its populated numbered no greater than fifty living around a chapel. In this year, the cultists fell victim to the t-Virus which had spread out of the Arklay Laboratory.
