The Mama Molded are enemies that appear in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, though only in the Not A Hero DLC mini-game. One serves as a boss encounter.
History
Not much is known prior to Not A Hero, though it is possible that they were manufactured at one point during the years Eveline was with the Baker family.
The first Mama Molded is encountered by Chris Redfield within another part of the Salt Mines as he's preparing to rescue one of his teammates. He'd soon find out, however, that the creature was impossible to kill under conventional methods, and so had to retreat away from it and help his teammate.
Later on, he encounters another Mama Molded on his way to defuse the bomb that was put on his wrist by Lucas. Throughout a long battle with the molded creature, he'd finally manage to put this one down for good.
Biology
This is a stronger, improved variant of Fat Molded, the Alpha E-Type, which appears in the Not a Hero DLC along with its initial counterpart. This new variant has a different appearance altogether while retaining the key aspects of a normal Fat Molded such as its distinguishable fat and even some sounds, as well as vomit coming from it. However, distinct differences include it being lighter in tone, significantly larger than its counterpart, having strands of hair on its body and being more resilient to conventional weapons altogether, to the point of being unaffected.
This variant of the Molded, while it does vomit, also spews out smaller bug-like crawlers.
Gameplay
When encountering the Mama Molded in the mines at first, it is highly advised to simply avoid this one, as Chris's normal arsenal will not defeat it as is. Later on, when encountering a second Mama Molded, Chris is now armed with enough ammunition to deal with the creature. This version of the Molded has a new ability that allows it to spew out four-legged critters from it, making the fight more challenging.
The strategy in the boss fight against it is to simply fire at it until it goes down, while also avoiding staying too close or too far from it. Due to the tight space of the boss fight with the Mama Molded, it will be hard to avoid some of its attacks altogether. The boss is also extremely resilient to bullets in the boss encounter, and may take a couple minutes to finish off, even with the use of the Anti-Regen Ammo, and will also likely consume most of your ammunition, even on lower difficulties.
When it creates its offspring, a simple knife attack can deal with them, though it's advised not to focus too much on them, as the Mama Molded may not be far from them.
Attacks
- Unlike the Fat Molded, it does not have the vomit counterattack. However, it has a new attack that allows it to spawn offspring to attack Chris. Additionally, being within close proximity of the vomit also hurts Chris.
- Like the Fat Molded, however, it does have the signature charging and scratching charge attack in long-range situations. It's advised to stay within a reasonable range of it to make sure it does not perform such an attack, or to simply block it to avoid taking damage.
- Upon death, it too will explode and can damage Chris.
