Masaaki Yamada is a former Capcom employee who worked in Capcom Production Studio 4.

Yamada worked on the original Resident Evil as a Planner, a role which relates to the creating of story structure before the writing of a script. In this role Yamada; Takashi Nakaya and Kazuhiro Aoyama are credited with "event design".[1]

When development of Resident Evil 2 began, Yamada joined its own planning time. The game's story was scrapped and restarted in early 1997, and Yamada stayed on to plot the new story version.[2] Following Resident Evil 2's release in early 1998, Yamada was assigned as director for BIOHAZARD 3, a game which was ultimately cancelled within a few months.
