Masaaki Yamada is a former Capcom employee who worked in Capcom Production Studio 4.
Yamada worked on the original Resident Evil as a Planner, a role which relates to the creating of story structure before the writing of a script. In this role Yamada; Takashi Nakaya and Kazuhiro Aoyama are credited with "event design".
When development of Resident Evil 2 began, Yamada joined its own planning time. The game's story was scrapped and restarted in early 1997, and Yamada stayed on to plot the new story version. Following Resident Evil 2's release in early 1998, Yamada was assigned as director for BIOHAZARD 3, a game which was ultimately cancelled within a few months.
