(Capcom's primary storyline)
"Have a nice life. What's left of it..." — Monica to Yoko. |
Monica (モニカ Monika ) was a researcher for Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. She, alongside Yoko Suzuki, used to work in Birkin's Lab prior to the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. She was also familiar with the G-Virus Project.
Biography[]
On September 23rd, after Birkin's lab was left in chaos after the raid conducted by the U.S.S. Alpha Team, Yoko Suzuki managed to escape the lab safely, while Monica was one of the remaining staff left behind. Shortly after the attack, Hunters R escaped from containment and started attacking the remaining researchers. With no other choice, Frost decided to freeze the lab, however the low temperatures made some equipment such as the turntable and the bottom level train inoperable, trapping Monica and others in the facility.
By that evening, the T-Virus had already spread to the water supply, and hundreds of zombies were now roaming the streets.

As the T-Virus ravaged both the city above and below ground, Monica attempted to acquire a G-Embryo. Being a ruthless and merciless individual, she murdered a fellow researcher in order to procure it, presumably intending to sell it to the highest bidder.[1]
She intended to use the bottom-level train to escape, but the train wasn't operational. After abandoning the hope of escaping on said train, Monica encountered her former colleague; the amnesia-stricken Yoko Suzuki. Monica stole Yoko's Umbrella Corporation ID card at gunpoint before taunting her and alluding vaguely to her unknown past. She then left Yoko, intent on finding another escape route.
Using Yoko's ID card to access another possible escape route out of the facility, Monica attempted to use the lab's disguised train yard turntable back entrance/exit lift to escape to the surface. Her efforts came to nothing, however, as the lift was frozen in place by the facility's climate control system having been set to below freezing point by another researcher, Frost, in order to slow the creatures that had infested the facility. Immediately after, Monica was attacked by a Giant Moth, and while she was attempting to escape, the embryo broke from containment and entered her body.
Monica then reappeared as Yoko and two other survivors were about to use the lift to exit the facility after restoring the climate control to a temperate level, making the lift operational once again. By this time, Monica had become the host of the very G-Embryo she had stolen and attempted to escape with; she falls to the floor, unconscious. Despite her betrayal, Yoko pitied Monica, asking aloud "Why did this have to happen?", but ultimately leaving her to her fate. As the lift ascended, the embryo rejected her and burst from her chest, instantly killing her, and made its way up the shaft to attack Yoko and the survivors as they ascended to the surface.
