Northeast plaza (北東広場 Hokutō hiroba )[1] is an area in the Raccoon Police Department featured both in Resident Evil 2 and its remake.
Description[]
The Northeastern plaza is small yard inside the wall of RPD. This area is composed of an empty square on one end with a stairwell that leads up to the rooftop, and a door to storage shed on another. An L-shaped concrete street decorated with lit lamp posts connecting both ends.
In Resident Evil 2 (2019). The Northeast plaza received a slight redesign. The square to the immediate of the stairwell is now a small alleyway with a couple of potted herbs. The L-shaped concrete street is now a straight gravel pathway that leads to the Boiler Room, with a cubical water tank in the middle of the pathway, obstructing the direct line of sight between the stairs and the boiler room door. Behind the water tanks is a lever that controls the flow of the two water pipes on the roof.
Interestingly, behind the water tanks is a glass window that connected directly to the hallway in front of the interrogation room. However, this window is cosmetic-only and cannot be vault over by the player even after broken and unbarred. In fact, even if the window has been broken in by the zombies, the window will display no damage whatsoever when viewed from the outside.
Guide[]
Resident Evil 2 (1998)[]
This area can be visit in scenario A and scenario B by either Leon or Claire. Zombies are present as enemies in this area.
In Scenario A, it can be visited during the exploration of Raccoon Police Department in search of the valve that can be found in the Storage shed.
In Scenario B, player must venture through here to get to the Raccoon Police Department.
Resident Evil 2 (2019)[]
There are 2 Green Herbs can be found in this area behind the stairs.
A slightly larger area in front of the boiler room offers some maneuverability if being chased down by the tyrant.
For Leon's scenarios, there are two zombies that will burst out of the Boiler Room. This is a nod to the two zombies in the original 1998 game where they will appear after opening a door in the storage shed. The water flow can be changed here in order to douse the burning chopper from the Roof.
For Claire's scenarios, the Boiler Room is inaccessible so the two zombies will be spawned behind the stairs instead.
