Okunuki was a Japanese lawyer specialized on human rights, who was abducted for viral weapons research.[1][2]
Biography[]
Okunuki wakes up to find along with others, finding himself confused and not sure where he is. when two nurses Ebihara and Abe shows themselves after killing a zombie when Jinno accidentally let it in, he along with others questions where they had come from and the nurses reveals that they were sent in to check their conditions. Ihara with the others question their relations to the group's kidnappers. The nurses explains the creatures that plagued outside of the abandoned mansion. Jinno starts to suggest that they need to work together as a group to stay alive and tells them to introduce themselves to the group with Okunuki complying to the request, Jinno puts him in his group alongside Terayama and Doi and they start to split up to look for supplies as well as clues.
After a couple of hours had passed, they meet back at the main hall with supplies. During the argument of whenether to hand out weapons freely, Doi notices trace of injection in his arms, prompting others to check theirs as well, Okunuki then angrily questions the nurses of what they have been injecting them with to which Terayama defends that it could have been anesthesia. When the door is banged on, revealing Hashimoto, who had awoken an hour ahead of them, upon hearing his encounter with the zombies, Jinno hands out weapons to everyone but urges them not to shoot each other and tells the groups that they will meet back in the main hall after half and hour with any new discoveries.
During the trip, when Jinno scouts ahead, Doi express his interest about the zombies to Terayama and Okunuki, believing that immortality and advancement of the human species could be achieved from the research on the zombies, he also believes that they are in research institute for zombies and expressing his excitement on the possibilities. Outrageous at this, he lunges at Doi accuses him of being a supporter of the kidnappers but Terayama separates the two, he also tells them that he lied about his occupation, assuming others lied about theirs as well, he also finds it amuse that Okunuki is so emotional for a lawyer. Jinno quickly returns and tells the others that there is an iron gating that prevents them from getting to the main hall. They then collect themselves and move on.
Upon returning to the hall, Okunuki now displays symptoms of the virus with the group debating over what to do with him with Jinno suggesting that they leave Okunuki here but Zama rejects the idea, however, the others agree causing Zama to question over their sanity of leaving an innocent person behind. Jinno volunteers to put him out with Karasawa then carries him to the next room, they shoot at him but fails as Okunuki reanimates shortly and attacks Doi, who happily lets him bite.
