Orthrus were a type of creature encountered by Claire Redfield and Barry Burton on the Island.
Its name is derived from the word Orthros, a two-headed hound from the Greek myth, often associated with its fellow three-headed hound Cerberus (Kerberos).

Biology
Orthrus are canine-like B.O.W.s made from the T-Phobos Virus. They have large spikes growing from their backs, as well as massive jaws.
Gameplay
The Orthrus behave similarly to the Cerberus and Zombie Dogs fought in other Resident Evil titles. They attack in packs, so it's best to try to take each one out as soon as possible before they overwhelm you. They appear in both Claire and Barry's sections.[1]
Orthrus can also play dead. Natalia's special sense can detect a living one, allowing for Barry to dispatch it before it wakes up. A good rule of thumb, as always, is to shoot anything that looks dead before you've actually attacked it.
