- Osmund Saddler is referred to as kyouso (
教祖 ) by his followers in the Japanese script for Resident Evil 4. This meaning of the word is the "founder of a religion". It has no direct English equivalent, though "prophet" and "apostle" are closest. It is odd that he is referred to by this term, however, as he purportedly led an ancient religion - not a new religious movement. - Saddler's background and motives are different between original and remake versions of Resident Evil 4. The former established him as an implied outsider and criminal mastermind who revived Los Illuminados for his own ends while the latter being both the heir and last known member of one of affluential families behind the cult who genuinely wanted to establish an Utopia free of chaos, suffering and destruction via. Las Plagas infestation — a noble goal which price regrettably too much to bear.
