The Peseta (currency symbol: Pta/Pts, ₧, or Pt) was a form of real world currency and was used as the in-game "money" in Resident Evil 4[1][excerpt 1]. The Peseta was the currency of Spain between 1869 and until 2002 where it was replaced by the Euro, although some areas continued to use Pesetas for a time.
Gameplay[]
Pesetas are only shown in text as the abbreviation PTAS. They are shown in the form of small chests full of coins or as gold bars. They are used in the main game and in Separate Ways to buy weapons, items, and tune ups from the Merchant.
They can be found as random or scripted drops from enemies and breakable containers, placed in treasure chests or hidden in other areas on the map. They can be picked up in quantities ranging from 50 to 100,000 (by beating Saddler) with the most common pickups ranging from 700 to 2000 pesetas. The player can also sell items or treasure to the Merchant for pesetas. Pesetas are also rewarded to players by playing the Shooting Range minigame during the main game.
