Plant 43 has a humanoid shape, with two identifiable arms and two legs. The plant moves by stimulating the movement of water in its body, which gives it a relaxed style of walking. To keep fed, it absorbs water vapor in the atmosphere. This makes it susceptible to changes in the atmosphere, but its body may find a way to adapt to the hostile environment.[1][excerpt 1] As with many plant species, Plant 43s are hermaphroditic, possessing the female pistil and male stamen, the latter of which form part of the "arm", and will reproduce when in contact with other Plant 43s.[1][excerpt 2]
