==Overview==

They are specially designed coats worn primarily by [[Tyrant (T-103 Type)|T-103]] Tyrants. They are made of strong, bullet-resistent fabric, and make most Tyrants nigh invulnerable except for their exposed heads. Tyrants outside of the [[Tyrant (T-103 Type)|T-103 series]] do not wear these coats, but are still capable of resisting firepower just as well.

Prime universe
(Capcom's primary storyline)

Power Limiters are devices manufactured by the Umbrella Corporation as a crucial component for the Tyrant Project.

Purpose[]

During the early years of the Tyrant Project, Umbrella was concerned that a tendency for progressive or runaway mutation would render their supersoldiers useless as B.O.W. products.[1] Proto Tyrant (T-001 Model) is one such example of Tyrant developed without the device,[2] while T-078 had his deactivated.[3] In the event of a Tyrant suffering potentially-fatal injuries, Power Limiters were set to de-activate in order for the user to undergo a runaway mutation into what is dubbed as a "Super Tyrant", as the demerits of runaway mutation would be outweighed by the benefits of its enhanced strength.[4]

In the case of "T-00", one of the T-103 mass-production models, its limiter was de-activated after it suffered severe third degree burns after falling into a vat of molten metal.[1] In the case of the Tyrant (T-002 Model), the limiter was de-activated after it was knocked unconscious in a fight in the Arklay Laboratory's culture room.[5] The latest unknown Tyrant variants in Eastern Slav Republic conflict, seems to have a Power Limiter that can be manually triggered without giving damage to them.
