Possibly created with a pre-Epsilon strain of t-Virus, the T-001 is noticably more deformed than later Tyrants. A noticable characteristic is the T-001's exposed spinal column, brought on by the exfoliation of cell tissue immediately behind it. This exposure left the creature extremely vulnerable to small arms fire.[1][excerpt 1]
The T-001's nervous system also suffered damage during the individual's mutation, resulting in a generally poorer coordination compared with the T-002 and random twitching. In spite of these anomalies, the T-001 still displayed superhuman strength, and the Tyrant Project continued to pursue improvements.

"究極の生命体を目指して開発が進められ､ 圧倒的な戦闘能力と命令を遂行する知性を兼ね備えた人間ベースB.O.W.の完成型として"洋館事件"以降は量産にも成功することとなるタイラント——その完成間近のプロトタイプであり､ 投与されたt-ウイルスの作用が強すぎたためか､ 思考態力の発達が見られず育成の中止が決定された。外皮の腐敗が著しく､ 背面は脊椎の一部が露出するほど皮膚がはげ落ち始めているが､身体機能や耐久性の点では実用化したタイラントと比べても見劣りせず､ 廃棄処分を受けながらも信じがたい生命力を発揮して活動を再開した。馬上槍を思わせる石腕の巨大な爪に加え､ 左手にも形状変化の兆候が見られることから､ のちの量産型が生命危機に瀕した際にリミッターを解除して移行する暴走モード（スーパー化）に近い､ 極めて不安定な状態であると推測される。むき出しの凶暴性は､ むしろ完成品よりも"暴君"の名にふさわしい。"
