A puzzle is a problem or enigma that tests the ingenuity of the solver. In a basic puzzle, one is intended to put together pieces in a logical way in order to come up with the desired solution. Puzzles are a central gameplay theme in the early Resident Evil titles, forcing players to re-read seemingly-trivial diary entries and memos and searching for event items around a location. The presence of puzzles in the first Resident Evil game is heavy enough that the completion of puzzles can be dependent on completing other puzzles.
Puzzles in Resident EvilEdit
In the original Resident Evil, you could only leave the mansion once all crests had been found and collected, establishing a 'meta-puzzle' of sorts.
"Bee Puzzle" - the player is intended to search the bee and lure cabinets of one the mansion's rooms. Eventually obtaining the Lure of a bee and a Bee Specimen, the player must put the two in opposite cabinets before pressing a button. They are rewarded with the Wind Crest.
