RMS Titanic was an Olympic-class ocean liner which was to serve as an emigrant transport ferrying Europeans to the United States. It hit an iceberg during its maiden voyage and sank. Titanic was a competitor of the American ship Liberty, which itself lost business due to loss of confidence in ocean travel.[1]
