Raccoon City was a small island city in the United States. Close to the city of San Francisco, it may have been on an island on the coast of California.[1][2]
History[]
For much of the city's existence, it was based against a river. It was only when the city began to expand heavily that it started to envelop the other side.[3] The Raven's Gate district would later house the city's main bridge, Raven's Gate Bridge, which was also a highway.
The city was heavily used by the Umbrella Corporation, who constructed their bio-weapons development facility, "The Hive", beneath it. In September 2002 the T-virus was released in The Hive, soon spreading into Raccoon City itself. This prompted Umbrella to destroy the entire city to both contain the virus and prevent evidence of their guilt from being made public.
