Raccoon City was an American city located somewhere in the Midwest. In mid-1998 the city was struck by the T-virus, which resulted in several hiker deaths from contact with infected animals. A sample of the T-virus was later accidentally released from a lab in the mountains, spreading the virus into the city's water supply. Umbrella would take full advantage of this crisis and deploy B.O.W.s to eliminate enemies.[1]
