Raid Mode, is an action-oriented minigame featured in Resident Evil: Revelations. One or two players may fight their way through a selection of maps taken from the single player campaign that have been updated with new enemy layouts.

At the end of each round, players will be awarded a rank, as well as BP based on their performance. BP can be spent in the shop to purchase more powerful weapons, upgrades or an immediate ammo replenishment. Each weapon has a certain number of upgrade slots available for the player to use as they wish. Upgrades for weapons can be found during a map, or may be awarded for particularly good performance. Some items cannot be purchased using BP, rather requiring the 3DS-specific Play Coins (obtained via the step counter of the console).

There are three difficulty levels, each with 20 levels and one bonus level. The difficulty levels are named:

  • Chasm (Which is unlocked by default)
  • Trench
  • Abyss

The 21st level is the Ghost Ship, which tricks the player by displaying the end-of-level medal at several points during the stage. The trick in this level though is to fight your way through the entire ship. Ammo pick-ups rarely occur in this stage.

As with Campaign, there are also Missions for Raid Mode, which give awards such as new costumes for completing specific tasks. This can range from simply reaching Raid Level 10 to collecting all of the Super Rare weapons, or S-ranking all stages on a specific difficulty level. Further missions can be acquired via the StreetPass feature of the 3DS system, and the reward for completing these is usually a large amount of BP.

Playable Characters

Raid Mode features many characters which are unavailable in the single player portion of Revelations. Each character has two abilities. Using any character will gradually increase the level of all playable characters, although different characters will level at different rates.

Enemies

Enemies in terms of type are identical to those found in Campaign, so foes such as Ooze, Hunter, their Farfarello variants and Fenrir will be commonplace. Unique to Raid Mode, however, are buffed enemies, who have specific abilities boosted higher than normal, in order to provide the player with more challenge. These are identifiable by specific icons next to the enemy HP bar, and are as follows:

  • Strength - The enemy deals more damage per hit. Represented by a fist icon.
  • Speed - The enemy's movement speed is increased. Represented by a "running man" icon.
  • Defense - The enemy is able to take significantly more hits than normal. Represented by a shield icon.
  • Boss - The enemy's stats are overall higher than usual. Represented by a crown icon.

Specific ability buffs are usually also represented on the enemy's character model, ie. Speed buff enemies are much smaller than normal. Campaign Boss enemies, such as Rachael and Jack Norman, are also present in Raid Mode.

Weapons

Raid Mode has a large variety of weapons that can be unlocked, upgraded and bought. Most notable are the new Legendary Weapons, which are unlocked randomly. They are:

  • Muramusa - A large rifle with a black and gold decoration covering it in it's entirety.
  • Pale Rider - A magnum gun with a huge barrel.
  • High Roller - A golden A.K. 47.
  • Drake - A double-barrel shotgun which is covered in scales. When aiming with it, the player might notice it looks somewhat like a dragon.

Additionally, all weapons in Raid Mode can be found multiple times as both the stages and difficulty increase, often at different levels. Increasing levels in weapons generally equates to an oveall increase in stats also; for example, in an early stage you may find a Level 4 Muramasa;

  • Firepower: 2755
  • Auto Fire: 0.75
  • Capacity: 4
  • Upgrade Slots: 5

And later, you may find the same gun at Level 13;

  • Firepower: 6660
  • Auto Fire: 0.97
  • Capacity: 7
  • Upgrade Slots: 6

It should be noted that you cannot level up weapons along with your character; you can only find higher level weapons by going to higher level stages, or by purchasing them.
