Regeneradores (リヘナラドール rihenaradōru?) (/rexeneɾaˈdoɾ/, [rexeneɾaˈðoɾ]) were experimental bioweapons created by Los Iluminados, a Spanish militant organisation. Regeneradores were known for their enhanced regenerative abilities, allowing them to regrow large portions of their body if destroyed.

History[]

The Regeneradores were created as a byproduct of Los Iluminados' research in Plaga-based bio-weapons. The Regeneradores themselves were created by planting multiple parasites within a human body, causing the body to mutate radically.[1][2][excerpt 1] A number of Regeneradores were kept in cold storage on the island, where they were in hibernation. All Regeneradores are thought to be dead after the destruction of Los Iluminados' facilities in 2004.

notes
  1. The Regenerador is mistakenly referred to as the "Regenerator" in the English translation to Resident Evil 4, a simple mistake given the very slight difference between the Spanish word and its English equivalent. The "-dor" spelling is used everywhere else.

    "ひとりの人間に対し複数のプラーガを寄生させる実験によって生み出された怪物。実験の結果、たとえ身体の一部が欠損しても瞬時に再生できるほどの異常な代謝能力を獲得した。しかし、 人の形をとどめてはいるものの、 肉体構造は完全な別物に変してしまっている。こうした変質は脳にまでおよんでおり、 人間としての思考能力はまったく残されていない。"
