IGN's Blair Marnell gave the film a 4.5/10, and considered the film to have been redeemable had it been a video game instead of a theatrical film. While he was impressed with Glenn's initial character, his obsession with Rebecca felt forced to make her a damsel-type archetype. He was also critical of the game's focus on Leon, Chris and Rebecca, with minor characters who do die being treated as disposable within the script.[2]
