Further notes
For the original PlayStation game and its ports, see Resident Evil 2 (1998 game).

Resident Evil 2, known as BIOHAZARD RE:2 (バイオハザード RE:2?) in Japan, is a Survival Horror game by Capcom's Division 1 studio. The game is a reimagining of the 1998 game of the same name.[2][3] The game was announced on August 12, 2015, several weeks after Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, as "H", asked people following the official Resident Evil Facebook page what their thoughts were on the matter, then relaying his findings to Division 1.[1]

After almost three years of silence, a trailer and demo of the game were shown at E3 2018 during Sony's panel, showcasing various new areas, hints of expanded story elements and new redesigns of classic characters along with a slated release date of January 25, 2019.
