The Sega Saturn port of Resident Evil 2 was developed by Nex Entertainment , a Sega subsidiary who had previously ported Resident Evil to the Sega Saturn. It was cancelled in mid-1998 due to concerns by Capcom that the console was not powerful enough to play the game without significant downgrades. As an apology to Sega, who had already boasted about the game coming to their system, Resident Evil CODE:Veronica entered development as a Dreamcast-exclusive with development largely outsourced to Nex.[1]
