The Resident Evil 5 Demo was a demo of Resident Evil 5 that was released over several weeks from December 2008 to February 2009 as downloads for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. It consists of excerpts from the early chapters of the game. One of the more striking differences this game has with the release version is that Ricardo Irving, the first antagonist, is instead called "Belvek".

Marketing[]
Ahead of the demo's release, Capcom reached a timed-exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft, with the demo being available to download on the Xbox Marketplace on December 5, 2008, for Japanese players and on January 26 worldwide. Initially, the demo was only available for Xbox Live Gold users, but it was downgraded to Silver on January 29, allowing anyone with an internet connection to download and play it. The PlayStation 3 version was released globally on February 2.[1]
