Poster for the blood drive.
Resident Evil 5 was featured in a 2009 Los Angeles blood drive in co-operation between Capcom USA and the American Red Cross. It took place alongside the release of Resident Evil 5 in the United States.
Background[]
Capcom announced its partnership with the American Red Cross on 4 March, and that the World of Wonder gallery on Hollywood Boulevard would be specially set-up for Resident Evil fans to donate blood. While drop-ins from anyone were welcome, Capcom asked fans to submit their name, date of birth, gender, blood type and contact details to an email with the subject heading "Give RE5 a Shot" to give the staff the information they needed ahead of time.[1]
The event took place on Friday 13 March from 11am-5pm, and hosted several Xboxes for donors to play Resident Evil 5 co-op while waiting for their turn to donate plasma. Donors also entered into a sweepstakes to win the limited edition red Xbox 360.[1][2]
