19th century (Unknown) The European merchant company "Travis Trading" begins its exploitation of the mineral resources of Africa.
20th century (Unknown) Travis Trading begins taking samples of African flora and fauna for use in its pharmaceutical research.
1960s (Unknown) Engineer Michael Warren begins the electrification of Raccoon City.
Travis Trading is renamed "Tricell."
The fifth head of the Ashford family, Edward Ashford, begins his research into what would later become known as the Progenitor Virus.
1962 (Unknown) Ozwell E. Spencer enlists architect George Trevor to design and construct a reclusive mansion on the outskirts of Raccoon City.
1966 (December) Spencer, along with James Marcus, Edward Ashford, and head researcher Brandon Bailey, extract the Progenitor Virus from the "Stairway to the Sun," a flower discovered beneath African ruins. This virus has the ability to reconstitute a living organism's genes.
They bring this flower back to America. Marcus and Bailey attempt to cultivate it.
1967 (March) The Progenitor Flower fails to cultivate outside of its native habitat.
Spencer proceeds with plans to establish a company.
(November) The construction of the mansion and lab facilities in the Arklay Mountains is completed.
1968 (Unknown) Construction of Raccoon City's public transit trolleys begins in Europe. They are quickly put into use within the city.
Spencer founds the pharmaceutical company Umbrella with Marcus and Edward Ashford. The company is established to mask their biological research.
(July) Edward Ashford contracts the Progenitor Virus and dies. His son, Alexander Ashford, succeeds him as head of the Ashford family.
(August) In Africa, Umbrella takes control of the ruins that constitute the Progenitor Flower's natural habitat, wrestling it from the native Ndipaya Tribe. Work begins on the Umbrella Africa Research Center.
The Umbrella Management Training Facility is established in the Arklay Mountains with Marcus appointed as director.
1969 (February) Alexander Ashford begins to design a facility in Antarctica. He secretly makes plans to build an underground laboratory for the purpose of the "Code: Veronica" project.
(June) The Umbrella Africa Research Center is completed with Bailey appointed as director.
(November) Umbrella's Antarctic Base and research facilities are completed.
1971 (Unknown) The "Code: Veronica" project is successful. The twnis Alfred and Alexia Ashford are born.
1977 (Unknown) Albert Wesker and William Birkin join the Training Facility as prospective managers.
(December) Five cases of the Progenitor Virus are sent to Marcus from the Africa Research Center.
1978 (January) Marcus successfully develops the T-Virus.
(July) The closure of the Training Facility is finalized. Wesker and Birkin transfer their T-Virus research to the Arklay Research Facility; Marcus continues his own research in the closed-down Training Facility.
1980s (Unknown) The Africa Research Center successfully cultivates the Progenitor Virus. The virus can only be created in Africa under strict supervision.
1981 (July) Although only ten years old, Alexia Ashford graduates at the top of her class from a prestigious university.
1982 (March) Alexia injects her father, Alexander, with the T-Veronica Virus, but the experiment ends in failure. His absence is reported as a mysterious disappearance.
1983 (December) Wesker researches secondary exposure to the T-Virus. He begins to have reservations about Spencer's plans.
Alexia injects herself with the T-Veronica Virus and enters a fifteen-year cryogenic sleep. To maintain the secrecy of this plan, it is reported that she died of accidental exposure to the virus.
1987 (Unknown) Michael Warren becomes mayor of Raccoon City.
1988 (Unknown) Wesker, under orders from Spencer, assassinates Marcus. Under Birkin's guidance, the T-Virus program begins development of the B.O.W. Tyrant.
Umbrella begins work on the "Nemesis" project at its sixth European research facility.
1991 (Unknown) Umbrella begins construction of an expansive underground laboratory beneath Raccoon City.
Spencer approves Birkin's G-Virus project and work begins on it.
Wesker is transferred to the Information Department.
(February) South American drug lord Javier Hidalgo receives the T-Virus from Umbrella. He attempts to uses it to cure his wife Hilda's endemic disease, but the virus turns her into a monster instead. Javier tells others that Hilda has died.
(December) The Soviet Union falls
Sergei Vladimir contacts Umbrella. Because his genetic make-up makes him capable of becoming a Tyrant, he submits ten clones of himself to Umbrella. In exchange, he is made an executive within the company.
1993 (Unknown) Clandestine meetings begin between Umbrella and Raccoon City's chief of police, Brian Irons.
Birkin transfers to the underground lab in Raccoon City.
(December) Alfred Ashford graduates from a university in England, and becomes director of the Antarctic facility. He rises up the ranks to eventually become an executive of Umbrella, and then director of Rockfort Island.
A training facility for anti-B.O.W. squad members is completed.
1994 (Unknown) John from the Chicago lab takes over for Birkin at the Arklay Research Facility.
Alfred builds a private mansion and prison on Rockfort Island.
1996 (Unknown) Raccoon City Police Department's S.T.A.R.S. team is founded with Wesker as Captain.
HUNK (later of the Umbrella Special Forces) undergoes combat training at Rockfort Island.
1998 (May) There is a large-scale viral leak at the Arklay mansion. The research lab there is destroyed.
A mysterious clone of Marcus's appears at the Umbrella Management Training Facility.
Cerberus claims its first victim: a 20-year-old woman whose body is found dismembered.
(July) There is an increase in reports of accidents and missing persons in the Arklay Mountains. The city sends the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team to investigate.
Two groups are sent to investigate the Training Facility. The first one is wiped out by B.O.W.s located on the premises.
Bravo Team's helicopter experiences engine trouble for unknown reasons and is forced to put down in the Arklay Mountains. The team takes the Ecliptic Express to investigate the Training Facility, which is later destroyed. (*Resident Evil 0)
Alpha Team is sent out to search for Bravo Team when communication is lost, leading to the "Mansion Incident." (*Resident Evil)
Bravo Team leader Enrico Marini learns Wesker's true identity. Wesker murders Enrico.
Sergei activates the Red Queen AI and evacuates all research data int the supercomputer U.M.F.-013, located in the Raccoon City underground facility. During this time, Red Queen cuts off Wesker's access to U.M.F.-013.
Ravaged by the virus, the mansion and the lab are destroyed. Four members of Alpha Team and one member of Bravo Team escape the catastrophe. Wesker escapes the Arklay Research Facility before it is destroyed.
(August) Former S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield learns of the G-Virus and heads to Europe to investigate Umbrella.
(September) Birkin completes his work on the G-Virus
The T-Virus spreads throughout Raccoon City via infected mice. The city is declared a biohazard as incidents of "cannibalism" continue to rise.
The police station is destroyed, and Chief Irons descends into mania. Warren escapes the city but leaves his daughter behind.
U.B.C.S. (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service) arrives in the city to begin rescue operations.
Jill Valentine, who is conducting an investigation in Raccoon City, begins trying to escape the city. (*Resident Evil 3: Nemesis)
Rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy arrives in the city at the same time as Claire Redfield. (*Resident Evil 2)
Umbrella deploys the B.O.W. Nemesis T-Type into the city, and it begins its hunt for former S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine.
Umbrella deploys mass-produced Tyrants into the city.
Leon and Claire escape the city with William and Annette Birkin's daughter, Sherry. With the arrival of the U.S. military, the city is placed under martial law.
U.B.C.S. survivors are exploited by Umbrella's official observer of the situation, Nicolai Ginovaef, and they die off one by one.
Ada Wong and HUNK each acquire samples of the G-Virus.
The underground lab in Raccoon City is destroyed.
(October) Sergei recovers the Umbrella supercomputer U.M.F.-013 from Raccoon City
Jill and U.B.C.S. member Carlos Oliveira escape Raccoon City.
The U.S. government decides to eliminate the virus threat by destroying Raccoon City with a missile strike.
The U.S. governent secures Leon and Sherry. A member of the U.S. Intelligence Department contacts Leon and recruits him for the secret service.
The U.S. government issues an indefinite suspension of business deree to Umbrella. Umbrella files a lawsuit against the U.S. Government in protest.
(November) Spencer decides to close the Umbrella Africa Research Center.
(December) Claire infiltrates the Paris laboratory, only to be captured and imprisoned on Rockfort Island. (*Resident Evil: Code Veronica)
Wesker attacks the island with his own private force and releases the T-Virus onto the island.
