Resident Evil Village was released globally on Friday 7 May 2021 aside Japan, which saw a Saturday release. Advance copy reviews praised the game, with it regularly receiving ratings well above 80%.

The VR Mode, released October 2022, won the Best VR/AR Game award at The Game Awards on 8 December 2023.[12]
