Shotgun Shells are a fairly common piece of ammunition found in every Resident Evil game, although usually less plentiful than Handgun Ammo. They are, as their name would imply, used in conjunction with a Shotgun.
In Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Shotgun Shells are made from Gun Powder B and more powerful "Enhanced Shells" can be made later on.
In Resident Evil 4, Shotgun Shells come in a green and yellow box emblazoned with the words "Heavy Field". The logo features a crosshair aimed at a brown bear, which may indicate that they are hunting rounds. They hold a maximum of 15 rounds per box. The art and in game images from Resident Evil 4 and 5 show that the shotgun shells are "Sabot" rounds, which is a type of slug round that fires a single bullet, but in game performance is that of buckshot shells.
