− | In [[Resident Evil 4]], Shotgun Shells come in a green and yellow box emblazoned with the words "Heavy Field". The logo features a crosshair aimed at a brown bear, which may indicate that they are hunting rounds. They hold a maximum of 15 rounds per box. The art and in game images from Resident Evil 4 and 5 show that the shotgun shells are "Sabot" rounds, which is a type of slug round that fires a single bullet, but in game performance is that of buckshot shells. These slugs are based on lightfield hybred expansion sabot slugs. designed for maximum epansion. This particular slug is more powerful than a .500 magnum developing over 3600ftlbs of energy with a 3in shell. Interestingly enough these slugs were actually not designed for big game like bears the lightfield commander round is meant for deer. It's purpose is to expand and not exit the animal on the other side. It uses a controlled expansion slug with energy on par with that of an elephant rifle. |

Shotgun Shells are fairly common ammunition items found in every Resident Evil game, though usually less plentiful than Handgun ammunition. They are, as their name would imply, used in conjunction with a Shotgun. The shells are often described as "12 Gauge".
