The Spencer Mansion was a manor built in the Arklay Mountains. During the t-Virus outbreak surrounding Raccoon City, the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.), a division of the local police department investigated the mansion in connection to suspicious activity.[1]

Behind the Scenes

The filming of the exterior scenes of the Arklay Mountains and the entrance to the mansion took place outside Hanmer, Ontario (roughly 24km north of Sudbury). Interior filming of the mansion took place later in Hamilton and Toronto, with some scenes (presumably) filmed at both The Scottish Rite Club and The Hamilton Club, while the rest of filming took place on various constructed sets on soundstages where reshoots were also handled.

In a later interview with director Johannes Roberts, it was claimed that the film crew had "worked hand-in-hand with Capcom, to the point that we actually got blueprints from them on the designs of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon Police Station (Roberts) in order to recreate them as perfectly as we could. We even have the exact artwork up on the mansion walls. Capcom saw it for the first time the other day and was so happy and excited. And that - as a nerd - made me so happy and excited!"
