A fully automatic firearm, usually with a high rate of fire, that appears in several games in the Resident Evil series, often with a finite amount of ammunition. Like the similar Assault Rifle, the Submachine Gun is recommended for use against tightly grouped enemies and for harassing larger B.O.W.s.

List of Submachine Guns

MAC-11: This weapon can be found in the RPD armory in Resident Evil 2 by either character, however if a player takes this weapon in the A Scenario, it will be unavailable for the following B Scenario. One spare magazine can be found on the B Scenario within the double locked room within William Birkin's Lab, unless the player does not currently have a Submachine Gun, in which case one appears in the same place as the magazine would be.

MAC-10: Two pairs of these small submachine guns can be picked up in Resident Evil: Code Veronica where they are chambered in the .380 caliber. The first can be found by Claire Redfield on the turntable within the Training Facility and are promptly given to Steve Burnside, while a second pair can be located by Chris Redfield with the aid of a lighter in the underground caverns below the facility. Due to the ability to aim at two enemies at once, these weapons can be extremely useful when fighting fast moving pack monsters such as Hunters or Cerberus.

MP5A4: An MP5A4 with a modified fore grip which includes a flashlight. It is found in the Outbreak series. In File 1, it can be found on the hospital roof of The Hive. Only Kevin and Cindy can acquire it though. In File 2, It can be found in the garage shutter or the holding cells(after you give Ben the right film) in Desperate Times. It can also be found on various locations in End of the Road.

MP5A1: A Sub-Machine Gun in Resident Evil 0 that can only be attained by unlocking it. To unlock it, receive an A ranking upon successfully completing the game. It has infinite ammunition. H&K MP5A5: A sub-machine gun used in the Resident Evil 5 demo.
