The opening implies she's a nanny looking after some rich couple's kid on a boat trip, while closer to the end it's shown Mia has a double life as an assistant to a bio-weapons research organzation and was smuggling Eveline (and therefore is the B.O.W. equivalent of a gunrunner). When you have a criminal lifestyle, it's best your spouse is aware when you start bringing up words like 'trust'.
