The taxidermy preparation room (剥製処理室 Hakusei shori-shitsu?)[1] is an area of the Raccoon Police Station that is featured in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

Resident Evil 2

This small dark room is dimly lit by a light hanging from the ceiling. There is a shelf to the right of the player as they work into the room with various jars and human skulls placed on them as well as a desk in the center and back of the room both having various tools and blood scatterd across them.

Darkside Chronicles

This area marks the first time that any place has been redesigned significally in the game, probably to accommodate for the boss fight that happens here. Unlike the original, this room is much larger and there is a small hole to the left of the room which leads to a pool of blood. If "G" wasn't killed quickly, it's possible to see an ax and knifes on the wall as well.

Resident Evil 2

The player can enter this room as Claire through the Secret Passage. It is here that she faces Chief Irons, infected with "G" Young by William Birkin early on before being killed by it (or by Birkin directly on Scenario B). Next, the player can head to the Cavernous Passage by going down the ladder.

In Leon B, upon reaching the sewers, the player can backtrack using Claire's route and reach this room. However, there is nothing to pick up in the room, with the exception of being able to examine Chief Irons' body.

Darkside Chronicles

A boss fight with "G" happens in this room, if the player has been upgrading their weapons, it's possible to kill "G" during its first cycle, before he grabs Leon / Claire and throws them onto the small pool of blood.

While inside that same pool, 4 "G" larva will jump at the player, and once climbing back out it of, "G" will spit 3 more larva out of his mouth.

Although Sherry was accompanying the player and is even featured in the cutscene before the fight, she is nowhere to be seen during the boss battle.
