Right around where Resident Evil's story hits top gear, Rebecca unexpectedly encounters captain Enrico.
Enrico comments on how Rebecca is still alive, and while the standard response from the player might have been "That's what I was going to say!", when you think about it it's actually quite incredible as it means that Enrico had to fend for himself the entire time.
If you've played Resident Evil then you'll of course know that Enrico makes it out of the Training Facility alive, which is no less than you'd expect from Bravo Team's captain.
Sadly he isn't able to escape his destiny a second time, even the crank he finds can't save him...
