But the war from Edonia will never follow him forever. So he decided to retire from active duty after they rescued Jake and Sherry and pass his position on to Piers. But Piers is not sure about being ready for become a captain like him. Chris replies to Piers, "You've made it this far, haven't you?" As they made it to the lower level, they can proceed to save Jake and Sherry. |

The Longest Elevator is a cutscene that is part of the Resident Evil 6 storyline. It is the opening cutscene to Chris Chapter 5.
Plot
On July 1, The BSAA patrons making their way to the facility in the Chinese Waters by landing the aircraft and then proceed to the elevator. In the elevator, Piers tells Chris, remarkable about the Irony between him, Jake, and Wesker. Chris recalls that it's been three to four year since he killed Jake's father. Like I said - irony.
Chris: I don't know, maybe it's fate.
It's been 3 years since I killed Wesker.
I can't let this war follow me forever.
After we rescue Jake, I'm turning in my gun.
Piers: What!? Wait a minute--
Chris: It's about time someone took my place.
And I'd be honored if it was you.
Piers: I... I don't think I'm ready for that.
