    • Honest opinion? I think the fandom's been ruined by guys who complain Capcom hates their fans for not having X in their games, and then complaining still when X is brought back.

The game's fine, but too many people are bullshitting about there being no guns at all and that somehow betrays the series (despite it not being a shooter).

    • Can you be more precise about what you are asking? Our opinion on whether or not RE7 killed RE? Are you asking how will RE die? When did RE die? Should RE die? Do we want RE to die?

    • Resident Evil never died as far as I'm concerned.

    • What i mean by honest opinion is if i where to take the resident evil name away from one of these trailers and let you watch it would you EVEN CONSIDER that this is a resident evil game? be honest.

    • You could pull that card for most games, so it doesn't really work.

    • 1. The game's not out yet. How do you know there's no ties to earlier games?

      2. Capcom's marketing campaign has them show very little of the story at a time.

      3. Does this mean you hate Resident Evil 4, which also had little to do with the series at the time?

      4. There's always been a group saying the current game is the worst one ever. Resident Evil 2 had its critics for "betraying the original", and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was said to have been a worthless game with a series-ruining ending.

    • By trailers alone no, but that's not inherently a bad thing or even mean anything significant at all. You could easily interpret that as a good thing because RE is finally trying new things.

    • But when a game abandons everything that made it what it is then how can it really carry the same name no offense riley and runner but your opinions are completely biased I've seen you tear ppl down simply for a difference in opinion.

    • Says the guy asserting his opinions as fact...

    • Again, the games are all different and there is no real common theme to all of them. To mark one single game as unfaithful makes no sense. Why not Survivor?

    • "But when a game abandons everything that made it what it is then how can it really carry the same name"

It hasn't abandoned everything though. And games can exist in any way the people who make them want them to, there's no universal rules developers have to follow when making sequels.

And again, the opposite can easily be argued. Developers are constantly experimenting and changing RE's presentation, one could say RE7 falls in line as being a RE title more than any other one since RE4.

    • Also, I'd like to point out that none of those four points I made were opinions, but factual with the exception of #3, which was a question.

    • I am honestly sick of seeing threads like this. I assume that, yes, there may be people out there with valid reasons for disliking Resident Evil 7, but most of the people I see here complaining are either seriously uninformed or reaching to the extreme in an attempt to make a weak argument to stir up drama or, in the case of this thread, having absolutely no substance or topic for discussion what-so-ever. This might as well just say "sdkjhsddgukjhsdgf" because it adds just as much conversation as if you merely whiped your face across your keyboard and posted the results.

    • "Watch the trailer. Does it look like Resident Evil to you?" Asides from the obvious title slapped on, I think it's rather unfair judging a yet to be released game just by watching two VAGUE trailers that offers little.

RE never had any defining features that makes it has its own "soul" as far as I'm concerned.

Gonna need a source for those claims, sorry. :(((((

I don't ever recall saying something along the lines of "your opinions wrong, mine's right you're fucking dumb for thinking otherwise" unless I was doing it ironically or non-seriously.

I'd really like you to provide an example of me giving a "biased" opinion.

Exactly how does Resident Evil 7 "abandon everything that made the series what it is"? If anything, it is leaning more towards the series' roots than any game since RE4 kicked off "modern RE". The game takes place in a creepy mansion with an isolated atmosphere and a focus on "surviving the horror" with limited ammunition and limited inventory space; "Do I drop the herbs or the bullets to make room for this key?" which is exactly what the originals were all about. At this point no one should have any doubt that there is combat in the game especially considering both Capcom and the ESRB (who played the game) have confirmed pistols and a shotgun.

    • Resident Evil is always changing. As such, this conversation has always been around (along with speculation over whether Capcom is going bankrupt or not lol). If you're not really big on change, then this is not the series to follow, plain and simple.

That being said, I definitely do not think that another change of format means the series is dead. Several elements are still there and I'm sure that it will still retain that "RE feel" when the retail version drops.

As far as what admins want, we don't really want users to have any kind of opinion. We welcome all kinds of discussion. We may come off a bit abrasive, but there's only so many times you can be told you know nothing about a series--based entirely on a differing opinion--before you're not so nice about it anymore.

    • I know not everyone agrees and it should be so, we are not robots, but yeah I do prefer the older style of games compared to the latter, but to each his own, not everyone is gonna like the same thing.

Definitely. I like every era of the series myself. These kinds of topics get pretty old, but they're a part of every RE community. If you can't say anything extremely negative about the newer games or praise the REmake as the greatest game ever created, then you're a terrible fan and need to learn from other fans. lol

There are users on this wiki that don't like the newer games, users that love the newer games more than the older games, users that love Operation Raccoon City, users that love the movies, etc. There's no need to attack other users for not falling into one category, since we already coexist just fine.
