The Umbrella Prime Incident is an extraction mission orchestrated by Albert Wesker in an attempt to bring Alice out of the facility and help him face their common foe the Red Queen while the AI directs Jill Valentine and her subordinates in an mission to recapture Alice and prevent her from exiting the area at all cost.[1]
Background[]
This facility was constructed at some point in the 1990s following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Following Dr. Alexander Isaacs' seizure of power, work on T-virus shifted towards its applications as a bioweapon, and national governments including the United States, Russian Federation, People's Republic of China and Japan quietly expressed interest in obtaining such weaponry.
Umbrella Prime's ultimate goal was as a means of contained, dedicated bioweapons testing with no need for outside facilities. Simulations took place in several "Zones" based on real-world locations, with the participants being cloned humans implanted with false memories, some of whom being infected ahead of testing. This industrialized approach to testing allowed for a variety of scenarios to take place, from testing out an Undead attack on suburban civilians, to testing the effectiveness of Las Plagas Undead or Lickers against a soldiers.
By 2002, Umbrella had changed its core objective. No longer interested in selling bio-weaponry to foreign militaries, it instead sought to deliberately end the world in a global T-virus pandemic. Nonetheless, simulations took place like clockwork, autonomously performed by Red Queen, one of the corporation's AI programs. Umbrella Prime was instead re-used as a base for Umbrella operations over the next ten years.
Following the Battle of Arcadia, Alice is recaptured at the hands of an mind-controlled Jill and brought to the facility where they further interrogates Alice for information
Events[]
Escaping from containment cell[]
When Alice awakes, Jill Valentine appears and begins an interrogation. After several unsuccessful attempts, the power unexpectedly goes out allowing Alice to escape from her cell with the actions caused by Ada Wong, who had managed to infiltrate the facility and kills all of the security personnel, enabling Wesker to hack to the mainframe and shut down the security system although unbeknownst to everyone, he already had accessed to the base with the hacking as an façade in his new plan of ridding Alice due to her delaying the plan's ending.
Tokyo Simulation[]
After Alice escapes from an lazer grid defense mechanism, she finds herself to be in an recreation of Tokyo Square, Japan. From there, she fails to get into a Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (警視庁 Keishichō?) cruiser, so she smashes the window with a bicycle chain to steal a handgun from the glove compartment. The simulation soon begins with cloned Japanese civilians begin walking through the streets with their umbrellas out and continues with their imprinted daily activities. An clone of J Pop Girl walks through the streets and attacks the cloned business man which causes chaos among the people and the infection spreads once again. Alice unintentionally gains their attention which prompts the Undead to chase after her with Alice retreating back into an sterile corridor. In the corridor, Alice battles against the few infected civilians and kills all of them including its patient zero. About to be overwhelmed by hordes of Undead, Alice flees through a door that leads into the Operations Center only to find the personnel dead and devoid of people.
Meeting Ada and Wesker[]
Arriving at Umbrella Central Control, Alice is confused to find that all of the Umbrella operatives have been shot in the head, seemingly uninfected. She is then confronted by Ada Wong, who informed her of their successful attempt of getting her out from her confinement. Wesker then greets her through the monitor and informs her of the facility's history as well as it's multiple cities simulations with him wanting to work together with Alice for the benefit of preventing human extinction, something Umbrella is failing at. To assist in helping Alice escape, Wesker had arranged an strike team which comprises of Leon, Sergei, Tony, Barry and Luther, who had survived his previous ordeal and works as advisor to the team.
Strike team[]
Outside of the facility, the strike team prepares to infiltrate the facility with their team planted bombs on the surface and interior of the facility. The bombs were set to go off in two hours and destroy the facility, regardless if the team or Alice has escaped the facility. They are to meet with Alice and Ada in the suburban recreation simulation. As Jill Valentine moves through Tokyo in pursuit of Alice under the orders from the Red Queen, Wesker reveals that she is under the control of the Red Queen, who has taken control over the entire company. Alice is instructed to move through the New York environment and into the "Suburbia" (Raccoon City) simulation, where she will meet up with the strike team. They are then to move into the Moscow environment and to the old Soviet submarine pens and up the elevator with Leon's strike team has already gained control of the submarine pens and are on their way.
During their traverse, Alice and Ada makes their way through New York simulation where the Red Queen activates two Axeman to hamper their progress of rendezvous with the strike team. The pair manages to kill them both by shooting at a taxi's gasoline tank which results in the end of the simulation. Elsewhere, the AI takes notice of the strike team infiltrated the Moscow recreation and activates Las Plagas Undead to be dealt with their group. The strike team falls back to the department store and fends themselves off of the attack.
Suburbia Simulation[]
Alice and Ada eventually arrives at the suburbia simulation where they find that the strike team still hasn't arrived. Walking into a house, she discovers the body of her clone; Ada explains that Alice represented one of the fifty 'basic' models. With only enough memories to guarantee an appropriate emotional response so that the basic clone models could be put in various environments and assume an appropriate character (a businesswoman in New York, a mother in Suburbia), and offers the suggestion that Umbrella's own soldiers could be clones. Upon hearing noises, Alice searches upstairs, where she is attacked by a zombie hiding in the nursery. Another clone named Becky had survived since the last simulation and greets her "mother", unaware that her actual mother had already died in the last simulation.
Taking the girl back to their home, Alice looks at the pictures of her suburbia clone and an Carlos Olivera clone named Todd with Ada reminding her that none of the photographs are real; that Becky could be anyone in a simulation with her feelings for her having been implanted for this simulation. The group are eventually intercepted by Jill and her squad which include clones of Rain, Carlos Olivera and One, created as Umbrella soldiers. The pair engages against the squad and take out as many soldiers as they possibly could. Noticing that they are losing the fight, Ada gives her glasses and hookshot to Alice and urges them to go through the Moscow Simulation to reach for the pens. Alice and Becky slip out of the house with Rain completely destroys the house with an portable missile launcher but Ada manages to avoid the attack by manually creating an sinkhole within the house structure.
Moscow Simulation[]
Back in Moscow, the strike team continues to fend themselves off from the attack but is still being subjected to fire from the zombified Russian troops. In response to the rocket launchers which damaged the walls, they have since built a wall out of corpses to protect them. The Las Plagas Undead eventually breach through the walls with an chainsaw undead saws through Tony, killing him. Sergei eventually manages to find a way out amidst the chaotic fight and leads the group to the back of the store through the bashed-up window. They jump out onto the street, where Sergei is grabbed by a Licker's tongue and gets his head bit off.
Meanwhile, Alice and Becky finds themselves in metro subway where they are greeted by Rain's Suburban counterpart. Rain is relieved to find the two still alive with Alice judging her to be trustworthy, teaches her how to fire the weapon and tasks her to keep Becky out of harm's way while Alice makes her way to help the strike team. Rain and Becky hides themselves on the train tracks, waiting for their return.
Back on the street, the remaining members of the team fire upon the licker to which no effect. Alice crashes the licker straight into the store by skillfully maneuvering the vehicle. They are then chased by Las Plagas Undead and the Licker from before but Alice manages to outrun them and buries the licker beneath stone and girders , effectively plugging the tunnel. The group meet up back with Rain and Becky with an alternative way out being through the train tunnels that led to the submarine pens. Noticing their progress, the Red Queen deactivates the power and dispatches biohazards to stop them. During the time, Barry is severely injured from the Licker's talon slash and Rain dying from the attack with Becky getting abducted by its tongue.
Escaping the facility[]
Determined to save the girl, Alice runs to the vents to rescue her, despite Leon's objections that she isn't important to the overall mission. Jill's team arrives and intercepts their escape, forcing the strike team to hold them off till the countdown comes to an end. Barry elects to stay behind and urges both of them to be on the elevator when the timer hits zero. The shootout comes to an abrupt halt when Bad Rain threatens to execute Ada causes Barry to offer himself up and gets shot multiple times by One but not before he kills him with him finally dying from multiple gun shot wounds fired by Carlos.
Elsewhere, Alice manages to locate Becky lay inside of an cocoon and incapacitates the licker with the assist of the hookshot. She retrieves Becky and some explosives held by an dead man laid inside next to Becky's. The pair travel through the tunnel and find themselves in the cloning chamber where they find hundreds of clones of themselves including Alice models. Alice and Becky makes it out of the cloning chamber and detonates the explosives, blowing up the licker along with the produced clones.
The timer reaches zero with the explosives laid at the surface and interior of the facility go off, causing an chain reaction of explosions which destroys the simulations and kill the remaining Umbrella guards including Carlos but Jill and Rain along with their prisoner Ada manage to escape from the raging tidal waves. The waves of water pushes the lift upside with Leon and Luther reuniting with Alice and Becky, who manage to get their location through a ventilation hatch. Together they board an snowmobile and make their way towards the rendezvous point where the chopper are gonna extract them.
Battle on Ice[]
Driving over the ice, the team is surprised to find the ice breaking apart, knocking their snowmobile over with the cause of it being an submarine which Jill and Rain had successfully commandeered with Ada still as their hostage. Bad Rain then injects herself with the Las Plagas parasite which enhances her strength and resilience greatly. The three of them engages their opposition with Alice taking on Jill whereas Leon and Luther fighting against Rain who demonstrates her ablities as the pair shoot at her multiple times only for Rain to eject the casings by moving them through to her fingernails.
Their fight descends into punches and kicks as Alice and Jill continue their fight with Jill gaining the upper hand as she implements painfully strong punches and dodges attacks with enhanced agility. Alice is eventually exhausted and loses the fight with Jill ready to kill her by throwing Alice into the snowmobile's running caterpillars as per the Red Queen's orders but Alice is able to rip off the scarab device from her chest, sending Jill into convulsion. During Leon and Luther's fight agaisnt Rain, she manages to deliver a strong punch to Luther's chest which breaks his ribcage and causes his heart to stop beating and knocks Leon unconscious. Noticed that Luther had died, Alice shoots numerous bullets into Rain but she retaliates by delivering the similar attack to Luther which ends with Alice having heart attack but still alive. Noticed Undead floated beneath the ice, the freed Jill assists Alice in breaking the ice beneath Rain where she is grabbed by multiple Undead that are freed from Umbrella Prime facility with an swarm dragged Rain to the abyss below and devoured.
The remaining survivors free Ada with an helicopter arrived to their location and an severely injured Alice collapses from her wounds.
Aftermath[]
The helicopter would pick up Jill, Ada, Leon and Becky with Alice being treated for her wounds and her relief that Jill is back to her senses. They are flown into The White House in Washington, DC, the supposed last stand of the human race from the Red Queen's attack. Alice meets with Wesker who he "pretends" to inject the T-Virus into Alice and give her former abilities back to assist him in his plan. Wesker takes Alice, Leon, Ada and Jill to the rooftop where they would witness carnage destruction alongside multiple mutated creatures such as the Licker, Kipepeo and seas of Undead, attempting to breach into their base.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Wesker had succeeded in achieving his true goals and further accelerate Issacs plan of wiping out mankind by drawing an large portion of survivors against waves of limitless Undead. Following his successful plan, Wesker betrays the group with his actions lead to the deaths of Jill, Ada, Leon and Becky and all the remaining personnel with the exception of Alice who had survived.
