VT-J98 was a liquid chemical designed by Umbrella. Umbrella Europe's No.6 Laboratory ordered an "additional" quantity of this substance from Raccoon City to cultivate the NE-α Type.[1][2]
Further notes
- In the English-localization, VT-J98 is instead used to cultivate something called the "NE-T Virus", though this does not exist in the original script.
- The name is a reference to the Vale Tudo Japan '98 MMA event that was being held when Resident Evil 3: Nemesis entered production.[3]
