The cemetery (墓地 Bochi?) is located just outside the church. It surrounds the Church where Ashley is being held prisoner. The area is also explored by Ada Wong in Separate Ways, in which it is revealed that Ada was the one who left Leon the Green Catseye in the device behind the Church.

Description[]

The area entrance is dominated by the cemetery, but past the church there are catwalks along the cliff that will take the player further, towards the lake area.

Guide[]

Main Game[]

Directly above the starting location is a bird's nest that can be shot for a Hand Grenade, and a nest further up the walkway can be shot for some Rifle Ammo. Three crows will be sitting on tomb stones, dropping boxes of money when shot. Taking a look at the three tombstones that are larger than the others will help solve the puzzle to obtain the Green Catseye. A shack to the right of the entrance path contains two boxes with random items and a box of Handgun Ammo on the table. The last 8 Blue Medallions are located throughout this area, which are important to obtaining the free Punisher from the Merchant. At the top of the hill are three more Ganados standing in front of the church, one wielding dynamite. The tree in front of the church has a bird's nest in it, which can be shot to obtain an Incendiary Grenade. Around the back of the church are a couple more Ganados and the Green Catseye puzzle. Moving across the scaffolding along the edge of the cliff past the church, a shack containing two boxes and the memo Closure of the Church can be found. The box on the table contains a snake, while the one on the shelf contains a box of money.

The church bell can be shot, effectively ringing it at any time, attracting more Ganados. At night after the battle with Del Lago, a wagon appears near the church which was be ignited (by shooting it) in order to kill a large proportion of the group of Ganados approaching. Furthermore, this is one of the few locations in the game in which the dogs infected with Las Plagas can be found.

Separate Ways[]

The Round Insignia key item is now placed in the pedestal where the Green Catseye was in the main game, and the Green Catseye has been moved to the ground in front of the door to the Quarry area. More Ganados are present than in the main game, and the Green Catsetye is guarded by a Chainsaw Woman who drops a box of 3000₧ upon death. Swapping the Green Catseye for the Round Insignia in the pedestal is necessary for progress.

In Separate Ways, simply shooting the church bells will switch to a still shot of it and display the message

"I have to get inside the church if I plan on ringing that bell."

Puzzle Content[]

Optional Puzzle[]

A pedestal sits behind the church and contains the Green Catseye. To solve this puzzle, three of the symbols on the wheel must be illuminated. The game-given hint at which symbols these are can be found in the cemetery proper when examining the three twin-head gravestones that exist in the cemtary. The three of them will have a unique symbol on them, which indicate the three symbols that must be illuminated to solve the puzzle. Solving this puzzle will open the pedestal and grant the Green Catseye.

SOLUTION SPOILER: Rotate the mechanism three times over and over until all symbols are lit. Then start rotating four spaces until only two are lit. Rotate three spaces one more time and this will solve the puzzle.
