The Waterway is a room explored in Resident Evil 6, and the focus of Leon Chapter 3-4: Underground Water Channel.
Description[]
This environment has been totally submerged underwater, with signs suggesting it was occupied by humans for a long time before and went through further alteration. The first section is a long stretch of corridor, akin to the Catacombs above, with one side exposed so passers-by would have been able to look out into a large cavern which has since flooded. This corridor leads out to a tunnel with more natural cave walls in which a cemetery was built and has since been taken over by plant life. At the end of this section is a giant manhole cover which would have allowed travellers to return to this section if needed.
Guide[]
From the start of the section, Leon and Helena are underwater and must swim through the corridor in search of air, of which there are two. After passing the first, the Gnezdo will be seen swimming by. As the player passes the second airpocket, Gnezdo will smash through to eat a Mummy, collapsing the corridor and forcing Leon and Helena into the cave tunnel. This section is full of Mummies, some of whom have Zombified and will throttle the player. The third and final airpocket can be found midway into the cave before a sharp turn. This section will end as the player reaches a large manhole cover, removed by a QTE which triggers the first Gnezdo fight as the player is sent away to the underground cave.
