Wild Things (咆哮 Hōkō , translation: "Roar") is a story scenario of Resident Evil Outbreak File #2, it takes place in and around Raccoon Zoo.[1]
Plot[]
On September 23rd, 1998, the t-Virus epidemic in Raccoon City reached a breaking point. Thousands of zombies and other infected creatures now roamed the streets, overwhelming local law enforcement. Unable to contain the crisis alone, the municipal government requested assistance from the National Guard, which responded at dawn by announcing that the city was affected by a "radiation spill"—a cover story meant to conceal the true nature of the outbreak.[2]
Before his death, Acting Chief Raymond Douglas had established emergency protocols for a large-scale civilian evacuation. His plan involved using the city’s streetcar network to transport survivors to a tram yard located in the southwest region of the city. There, Chinook helicopters would airlift evacuees to safety. These airlifts were scheduled to occur every four hours at 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 10:00 PM.[3]
On the evening of September 24th, a day after the incident at Jack’s Bar, Cindy Lennox, a waitress, led a group of survivors to the rear entrance of Raccoon Zoo. Unaware of the ongoing evacuation effort, they devised a plan to pass through the zoo in order to reach Raccoon Zoo Station and board a tram to the evacuation site.[4]
While they succeeded in reaching the station, their delay within the zoo ironically saved their lives—the 10:00 PM Chinook helicopter, which they had initially intended to catch, crashed during takeoff, resulting in the deaths of approximately 40 survivors. In the aftermath of the disaster, local police and National Guard forces canceled all further air evacuations, effectively abandoning the city and its remaining citizens to their fate.[5]

Gameplay[]
This scenario is a bit hard for first time players, especially on normal because it requires you to do a whole lot more. You will start by the gate entrance to the zoo. Head down the street (take anything you think you need at the beginning), there might be a couple of zombies. Go to the sign in front of the 'Elephant Restaurant' to find a map, then go inside the building.
There are two options, either take the file at the end of the room to see the code of the gate or break the door behind you to find a wire cutter to open the gate. Now head back to the gate and open it in whichever way you decided to do it. Now that you're in the zoo, you will be greeted by a cutscene that introduces you to the Zombie Elephant.
After the cutscene, you will be in control with the Zombie Elephant rather close to you. Just run for now since you don't have the weaponry needed to take him down, and you will have to do certain things to prepare the scenario's final boss. If you are far enough, the Zombie Elephant will just go to another area for now. If you want, you can go back to take a mixed green and red herb from AI Cindy who is now lying dead on the floor.
The next objective is to find all the Mr. Raccoon medals necessary to turn on the power (on easy difficulty, this is not necessary as the power is already on) before you can start to do anything to escape. After you've inserted all the Raccoon medals, you can turn the power on. Yet, there is still a few more Mr. Raccoon medals needed to take an item that is needed to open the emergency exit of the zoo. If the player is playing on easy difficulty, they'll only have to find one Lion Emblem needed to unlock the other way out, and only a few Raccoon Medals. In harder difficulty, the player is forced to find the two Lion Emblems while searching for an increased number of Raccoon Medals.
You can save your progress by heading to the Inner Office in the zoo office building and find a typewriter machine (this is the room where you'll find a computer needed to activate the zoo's power). But be wary; the Zombie Elephant will crash its head into the room and swing its trunk, damaging anyone in the proximity.
There is one part where you must make a choice between the Zombie Elephant boss fight or Zombie Lion boss fight. If you want to fight the lion, you can either kill Zombie Elephant or lock him up in the elephant stage. Should you trap the Elephant, you must avoid being in the arena for too long or he will escape (this scene is required to achieve a 100% event checklist). Locking the gate will make a Lion Emblem fall from the top of the gate. The bosses are both pretty hard but if you have the Hunting Rifle, the Zombie Lion only needs two shots from it and it will die. The Zombie Elephant will regularly flinch from melee attacks so you'll want to keep your partners alive and give them melee weapons necessary to battle the elephant. After you're done with the boss, enter the tram and watch the final cutscene of the scenario.

Character-specific secrets[]
- If the player plays as Mark, they can move the tour bus found in the east concourse and collect ammo, a file and have a spot to hide from the Zombie Elephant.
- If the user plays as Alyssa, they can find a special note behind a flipped table in the Office and at the Tram. They can also open a locker in the same room of the flipped table and find a shotgun inside it.
- If the user plays as Cindy, she may find a special note in the restaurant, inside the counter. If the user DOESN'T play as Cindy or choose her as an ally she will be found dead, trampled upon by Zombie Elephant, in the area where the player finally enters the zoo, and there will be two herbs (Normal or mixed herbs) and a special item on her body.
- if the user plays as David, he can fix door between "Stage" and "Show animal's boarding house" in Hard / Very Hard with his tool. He can open mini locker near supply room in "Connecting Passage" area.

Further notes[]
- The level was completed from a draft outlined as Scenario "R040", one of some forty or so proposed stages for the game.
- In the European version of File #2, when Cindy goes to read the Evacuation Plan, subtitles will show what she's reading. However, in the American version, a player has to read the file (which will give points)
- The game would be easier to defeat if a player plays as Cindy and has David and Yoko as partners; Since David can make Combo Weapons (strangely, they deal more damage to T-infected animals) and he will stick up with Yoko (who stays behind Cindy most of the time) who will hold the raccoon coins if asked.
- It appears that Cindy is the canon character for this scenario.
