- In the Resident Evil live action films, not one character calls them "zombies". However they are still sometimes called "undead".
- The idea that a zombie bite causes the victim to transform was first introduced in Resident Evil 2, rather than the original.
- Outbreak File #2 introduced the Green Zombie; This kind of zombie is more aggressive and dangerous than other mutations (only matched by the Licker) since they would often walk at a faster pace after prey, and let out poisonous spores if hit or shot, which would cause a Poison status.
- The Nemesis Beta parasite can influence zombies, as it will take over a zombie´s body or spray a biologial substance on them; either way, the Nemesis beta can make zombies more resistant and aggressive towards their prey.
